Computer problems? Not to distress - Dell Presto is here to help. Oliver Banham explains.
When your computer’s acting up, or you want to do something for which you don’t feel technically capable, soon after who you gonna signal? Ghost…, I mean, Dell Presto – the latest and greatest notion from the guys at Dell headquarters, once again putting consumers first and offering an extensively customisable service.
The premise is simple, but brilliant, and works with two main factors – OnCall and OnSite. The former is for those times when you think an easy phone signal will suffice, and quickly extinguish your problem. The latter is for the times when you know you need a professional to come and check out your system. Both parts of the Dell Presto service are flexible and dependable, and you won’t be charged until you agree to the technicians helping you.
The OnCall service, soon after, is cheaper than OnSite, and is available for less complicated, more common needs. Prices range from £19 for things such as sharing files and configuring emails, to £39 for the more complex problem, such as removing a virus or installing new hardware. Finally, a price-point of £59 is applied
to issues of high-complexity, including setting up a wireless network or reinstalling your operating system.OnCall is set up in a way that affords flexibility. You can either attempt to sort your problem by the phone with a friendly, qualified technician or let them take a look at your pc with remote access through a broadband connection – whatever feels most comfortable to you. Nine times out of ten your problem will be just a few clicks away and some light tinkering, with a process handled smoothly and efficiently by the support by the fun. It’s a winning combination.
OnSite is similar to OnCall in how pricing increases dependant on the problem you have, but instead of everything happening by the phone, a technician will travel to your home to try his best on whatever you need help with. Prices expectedly are higher than those for the OnCall service, with them starting at £89. The official website will inform you of the exact prices for the corresponding services, and detail you with precisely what you can expect whether you signal. It’s kind of like getting your own guardian angel, thereupon, just without any wings - and a car.
